Tour de California- Stage 2- Laguna Beach

Whenever you visit my Uncle Art and Aunt Kit in Laguna you have to go to Zinc, a little cafe in town. Here is Elie with her Fantastiically Great Aunt Kit at Zinc.

Tour De California- Stage 1 Long Beach

We leave for LA tomorrow morning so hopefully we'll get some good blogging material out there! However, I requested sun and warm weather and it may nicer here in Denver then it will be there :(

Jimmy arrived home safely from Ghana on Wednesday. He brought us some fun presents! Elie got this stuffed giraffe, I got some jewelry and so far Jimmy shows no signs of having any diseases, YEAH!!!

Lots of blogging today!

Poor little pumpkin is a little sick. You can tell she doesn't feel well because this was the stillest she has sat since she was a fetus. We were watching Baby Einstein World Animals, very exciting!

We tried some finger foods for the first time. With mega-concentration she finally managed to get one in her mouth and then spit it right back out. Our little Eliebelly is quite the picky eater. After trying many things she will only eat carrots and oatmeal cereal, and that IS IT!!!

Elie has decided that sleeping on her side is best...just like her mom! I don't think the arm looks that comfortable but she looks peaceful.

New Toy!

Elie's Valentine present from Jimmy finally arrived today. It is a little fish bowl and lights up and plays music. The idea is to take the fishies out of the bowl and put them back in, however...

Elie thought eating the bowl would be more fun!

Dog Show!

Today I took Elie to her first Dog Show! I forgot my camera so we took some pictures with Duke instead. But as you can see she is quite enamored with the dogs, she loves to watch them and giggle at them and pull on them if she gets the chance.

Crazy Hair

Elie is getting lots of hair and she had a bath yesterday so of course her hair is standing straight up! I think it makes her look punk rock.

She does look very pretty (although a little airbrushed) in this picture, but I think I'll stick to boys! Another Report from Africa...

This was the text message I received from Jimmy yesterday...

"It was 115 degrees and 85% humidity today. It was so hot that my cell phone quit on me around noon. I think I lost ten pounds in sweat. Heading to the bar to have a drink before dinner."

They were also told not even to drink the bottled water so its beer or soda, in Jimmy's case, beer.

Another "uh-oh!" moment...you will notice that my arm is behind Elie but I am not supporting her much. Standing is her new favorite trick.

This is Elie and her buddy Aeva at our little play group. They were very cute, grabbing each other and smiling at each other and then they started poking each other in the eyes and had to be seperated.

Sorry no new pictures...but I heard from Jimmy today. They moved on to Kumasi (in the middle of the country, with the arrow). He reports he feels he is in a National Geographic pictorial from the African savannah. Its all brush and every so often one single tree. He hasn't been eaten by any wild animals yet nor has he seen one, but he is a little apprehensive to leave the confinements of "the compound". He promises to send pictures soon and I will blog them.

Jimmy left for Ghaha today. I had to look up a map to show Elie where he'll be. It is supposed to be 95-97 degrees with 90% perecent humidity with bugs and disease everywhere/ Oh how I wish I were going!

Carrots!

We tried our first "non-cereal" food, carrots. Elie was not a big fan if you can tell from the pictures. She cringes when she swallows them, it's pretty funny. But like a good girl scout she still takes a couple bites!

Superbowl Party

And Elie was the big winner! We played the squares game and Elie was the final winner, she won $94...she looks a little TOO intrigued with that money for my comfort!

Elie and her football, next to the poster Jimmy had me make. It took me over two hours to make that damn thing with all the logos and everything, so when Elie won I felt like I got a little artist's commission.

Susan won $20 from the first quarter, she was excited but it's hard to tell after her botched face lift and botox injections.

Dr. Update

Elie had her 6 month check up today and guess what? She is still perfect!!! The nurse informed me that she went up on her growth chart, a whole 2%. She is now in the 12th %ile for weight. Weighing in at a whopping 13#14oz. And she is 26 inches long which measures at 60th %ile in height. So far she does not show signs of the Yates head her head only measures in the 50th %ile.

Le Petite Fleur

Our Little Model

I put my old photography skills to use today and took some hopefully professional looking pictures of le petite bebe at 6 months. It took 4 of us to do it: 1) to make sure the light was right 2) to keep Elie from falling off the table 3) to keep her entertained and 4) moi to take the pictures. Here is a little preview...
